Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital Successfully Renewed the Ministry of Health and Welfare Certification

Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital has renewed certification as a MoHW-certified medical center for a second term

In June, the Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation (KOIHA) assessed the quality of medical services and operations of the Kyung Hee University Medical Center (KHMC) Dental Hospital and found that the Hospital exceeded its accreditation standards for the Medical Institution Accreditation Program (MIAP). The KHMC Dental Hospital has subsequently received once again the official recognition as a medical institution with quality medical service and reliable patient safety, renewing its certification first obtained in 2014.

The MIAP encourages voluntary and continuous effort on the part of medical organizations to promote patient safety and quality medical services. Hence, the goal of the program is to provide high quality services to consumers. The MIAP certification of the KHMC Dental Hospital is valid for four years from August 20, 2018, to August 19, 2022.

Established in 1971, the KHMC Dental Hospital is Korea’s first private university dental hospital. It continues to lead dental medicine with eight treatment departments in Orthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Radiology, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, Oral Dentistry, and 4 specialized centers: Implant Center; Integrated Treatment Center; Chronic Orofacial Pain Center; Intractable Jawbone Disease Center. In 2014, it was the first dental hospital to acquire the MIAP certification from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Continuously pushing forward as a patient-centered dental medical institution
Based on the scientific fact that ‘oral health is the foundation of a healthy body,’ the Hospital has endeavored to communicate and promote the importance of oral health. Besides treatment activities, the hospital has given attention to advancing the patient’s healthy body, quality of life, and the overall happiness.

While making utmost efforts to meet customer satisfaction, the Hospital has made incessant efforts to provide open-to-public health informationals, and to take part in medical volunteer activities in Korea and overseas. These efforts demonstrate our commitment to engage in systematic social volunteerism, founded on the basic operational principle to build trust as a university dental hospital and to promote joint prosperity in the local community. These operating principles have invariably contributed to the recent MoHW certification.

Young-Jin Lim, Vice Director of the Medical Hospital and Director General of KHMC, expressed his aspiration to witness a new propulsion in its leadership as a dental hospital that provides personalize treatment to each patient type. He said, “We continue to excel through our performance based on our commitment to be a patient-centered institution in western, oriental and dental medicine. By operating the Disabled Clinic and the Speedy Bio-Orthodontic Center, I look forward to yet another launchpad for the Hospital.”

KHMC

acquired medical institution accreditation for its dental hospital and oriental medical hospital in 2014. As a result, it has solidified its reputation as a medical institution certified in all three areas of medicine: western medicine, oriental medicine, and dentistry. KHMC continues to demonstrate the highest quality of our medical community through re-certification every four years.
